Tin Shack Studio - Richard Huntrods

The NEW Tin Shack Studio
Vancouver Island, B.C.

The Tin Shack Studio began in Calgary, AB in 2003 with the goal to construct a low-cost, energy-efficient glassblowing studio. That goal has been realized, and now the Tin Shack Studio stands as a wonderful place where colorful works of art are created in the crystal medium that is glass.

In the summer of 2006, the Calgary Studio was dismantled and the equipment moved to Vancouver Island, just north of Ladysmith, BC. Then began the process of building a new "Tin Shack" studio. By late fall, the studio was complete and operational. The New Tin Shack still realizes the goal of the orignal, and stands again as a wonderful place to create blown glass art.

Tin Shack Studio - Calgary Alberta (2003-2006)

Click on the picture below to view the original Tin Shack Studio - Calgary web site. The Calgary studio was my first studio build for glassblowing. It was located in our back yard inside an Arrow 10' x 14' metal shed (hence the name 'Tin Shack'). All of the equipment from the Calgary studio was moved out to Vancouver Island and now resides in the new Tin Shack Studio.

The Calgary website contains pictures and descriptions of the original build, including the shed and equipment. It also includes some operational information as well as maintenance and pictures of events and friends.
